Articles of Agreement indented had made concluded and agreed upon this Twentieth day of June in the forty seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Third and in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and seven Between John Jeffrey of the Town and County of Poole Esquire of the one part and Robert Slade of the same Place Merchant of the other part as follows.

First the said John Jeffrey for and in Consideration of the Sum of Six hundred pounds to him in hand paid by the said Robert Slade at the time hereinafter mentioned and exprefsed Doth hereby for himself and his Heirs Covenant and Agree to and with the said Robert Slade his Heirs and Afsigns and every of them that he the said John Jeffrey his Heirs and Afsigns on or before the Eighth day of June next ensuing the date hereof as set the payment of the said sum of Six hundred pounds shall and will it the reasonable request and it the proper costs and ????? in the ??? of the said Robert Slade his Heirs and Afsigns ???? and ???? and by such Conveyances and Afsurances as the said Robert Slade his Heirs and Afsigns or his or their Conveyance shall advise and direct Convey Release and Afsure unto and to the use of the said Robert Slade his Heirs and Afsigns for ever All and every his Plantations. Fisheries Dwelling houses. Fishermen and Shoremens Houses Gardens Cook rooms Blacksmiths and Coopers Shops. Stages. Flakes. Wharfs. Slips and Storehouses and all other Erections and Buildings thereon and also the Fixtures thereto belonging situate and being in the Harbour of Trinity in the Island of Newfoundland in North America together with a skift built the last Winter and five punts with Covenants to be therein contained that the said Plantations and Premises at the time of such Conveyance are free from all Incumbrances and Demands whatsoever And with such Warranty and other fit and reasonable Covenants as the said Robert Slade his Heirs or Afsigns or his or their Counsel shall be reasonably advised as aforesaid. In Consideration whereof the said Robert Slade for himself his Heirs Executors Administrators and Afsigns Doth hereby Covenant promise and agree to and with the said John Jeffrey his Heirs Executors Administrators and Afsigns that he the said Robert Slade his Heirs Executors Administrators of Afsigns or some one of them shall and will and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John Jeffrey his Heirs Executors Administrators or Afsigns the aforesaid Sum of Six hundred pounds at the time of executing the said Conveyances and Afsurances as aforesaid Which said Sum when Paid is hereby agreed and declared between the said Parties to be in full for the absolute Purchase of the said Plantations and Premises so to be Conveyed as aforesaid And it is hereby further Agreed between the said Parties that in case the said Dwelling houses, Fishermen and Storemans houses  or any the Buildings on the aforesaid Plantations and Premises or any or either of them should be Destroyed by Fire or otherwise or taken or destroyed by the Enemy previous to the delivery of the pofsefsion thereof to the said Robert Slade his Heirs Executors or Administrators Agents or Afsigns by the said John Jeffrey his Heirs Executors or Administrators Agents or Afsigns then and in such case such Allowance or Satisfaction for the inquiry done to the said Plantations and Premises or any part thereof by fire or otherwise or by the Enemy as aforesaid as two Persons the one to be appointed by the said John Jeffrey and the other by the said Robert Slade their respective Heirs Executors or Administrators shall direct or award And for the true performance of all and every the Covenants and Agreements aforesaid each of the said Parties to these presents doth hereby bind himself his Heirs Executors Administrators and Afsigns to the other of them in the Penal Sum of Six hundred pounds. In witnefs whereof the parties above named to these presents have hereto their hands and seals subscribed and set the day and year first above written.
